The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K is a four-knob version that offers even greater operability than the previous Purple Plexifier. The MID knob allows for flexible tone control. It delivers a thick, compressed tone while maintaining high response. The overall tone has been refined to a more modern tone, and the MID knob's operation has been adjusted to allow for optimal balance at all times.

Plexi is a transparent sheet made from acrylic. Why does this word resonate so deeply with rock guitarists?
Commonly known as ""Plexi amps,"" these amps refer to vintage British amplifiers with Plexiglas (acrylic) control panels, produced up until around 1969.

In 1962, before modern-day PA systems existed, guitar amps were created in pursuit of a louder sound, and they would go on to make rock history.
Top guitarists around the world have demonstrated their power on stage, and Plexi amps continue to have an overwhelming presence today, serving as both a companion and aspirational tool for many guitarists.

Although they're all called Plexi amps, there are many variations in tone depending on the output, combo, stack, and model. The ""Plexi sound"" evokes nothing less than the tones played by legendary masters.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K aims for that tone. It's that gorgeous Plexi sound with its ""hot rod"" customization. And even the ""brown"" sound, coveted by guitarists worldwide and still being refined today. With the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K, you can achieve that so-called ""sound.""

The most important thing in recreating the Plexi sound is the amplifier's distortion. Simply cranking up the distortion of a modified Plexi amplifier and playing your guitar with all your might isn't enough.
Even at full gain, playing harder produces more distortion, while playing softer produces clearer sounds. Guitarists can freely control the intensity of the distortion, capturing every detail of their sound. Yet it must not be overly sensitive, allowing players to enjoy the sound with ease. In other words, it needs the same response and balance of clean and distorted tones as a genuine, great guitar amp.

Balance and response like an amp itself. This is what BJF, designer of the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K, specializes in.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K delivers the beautiful sweet spot tone common to many Plexi amps, covering everything from clean to full gain and even the custom, high-gain realm of Plexi. Its compact body and simple three knobs and one trim pot allow for flexible tone control.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's distinctive features go beyond its authentic amp-like response, balance, and sound. The wide range of tones obtainable by combining the TREBLE and MID knobs is also unique to BJF.

While many amps, including Plexi amps, feature a three-band equalizer, the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K does not.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K creates its sound based on the low frequencies of the guitar itself. By not controlling this, the pedal is designed to use the overall distortion as a base, allowing you to easily adjust the tone from there.

When creating a sound with the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K, first adjust the treble and mid-range sounds with the MID knob. Turning it counterclockwise cuts the midrange, creating a shredded tone. Since it maintains a solid, tight tone, cutting the mids doesn't make the sound muddy. Turning it clockwise emphasizes the midrange, creating a warmer tone.

Once you've decided on the basic direction of your tone, finally adjust the TREBLE knob. The TREBLE knob controls the tonal balance around 2 kHz. If you set the MID knob to strongly push the mids, the TREBLE knob will only fine-tune the tone. Cutting the mids will enhance the effect of the TREBLE knob.

This is an amp-like pedal with a wide gain range, from clean to distortion. However, surprisingly few pedals offer the full range of a real amplifier, from clean to full gain.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's unique BJF design allows you to consistently maintain a stable low frequency response, adjust the midrange and high frequencies to your liking, and then balance the high frequencies to your liking. This allows you to achieve the perfect tone balance at any gain setting, from British clean to bluesy crunch, smooth overdrive, and HR/HM high gain.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's flexible balance and high response also make it effective when combined with other pedals and various guitars. For example, combining a British vintage fuzz with a Stratocaster can create a legendary psychedelic tone, while combining a powerful American fuzz with a Jazzmaster can create a grunge-style tone. Traditional overdrive with a Les Paul, classic distortion with a Gretsch... you can easily access the tones developed by various guitarists.
