The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K is a four-knob version that offers even greater operability than the previous Purple Plexifier. The MID knob allows for flexible tone control. A thick, compressed tone is achieved while maintaining high response. The overall tone has also been refined to a more modern tone, and by adjusting the MID knob in particular, you can always achieve the optimal balance.

Plexi is a transparent sheet made from acrylic. Why does this word resonate so deeply with rock guitarists?
Commonly referred to as ""Plexi amps,"" these amps are vintage British-made amplifiers with Plexiglas (acrylic) control panels produced up until around 1969.

In 1962, before modern-day PA systems existed, guitar amps were created in pursuit of a louder sound, and they would go on to shape rock history.

Top guitarists around the world have demonstrated their power on stage, and Plexi amps continue to have an overwhelming presence today, serving as companions and aspirations for many guitarists.

Although Plexi amps are generally classified as such, there are many variations in tone depending on the output, combo, stack, and model. The ""Plexi sound"" evokes nothing less than the tones played by legendary masters.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K aims for that tone. It delivers that glamorous Plexi sound with a ""hot rod"" customization. Furthermore, there's the ""brown"" sound, coveted by guitarists worldwide and whose sound continues to be tested to this day. With the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K, you can achieve that so-called ""sound.""

The most important thing in recreating that Plexi sound is the amplifier's distortion. It's meaningless to simply overdrive a modified Plexi and reproduce the sound you get when you play your guitar at full power.

Even at full gain, playing harder produces more distortion, while playing softer produces clearer sound. The guitarist has complete control over the intensity of the distortion, conveying every detail without leaving anything out. Yet it also needs to be sensitive enough that the player can enjoy the sound with ease. In other words, it needs the same response and balance of clean and distorted as a genuine, great guitar amplifier.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K delivers the beautiful sweet spot tone common to many Plexi amps, from clean to full gain, and even custom, high-gain Plexi amps. Its compact design and simple three knobs and one trim pot allow for effortless tone control.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's distinctive features go beyond its authentic amp-like response, balance, and sound. The wide range of tones achieved by combining the TREBLE and MID knobs is unique to BJF.

While many amplifiers, including Plexi amps, feature a three-band equalizer, the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K does not.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K creates its sound based on the low frequencies of the guitar itself. By not controlling this, the overall distortion is based on the base frequency, allowing for easy tone adjustments.

When creating a sound with the PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K, first adjust the treble and midrange frequencies with the MID knob. Turning it counterclockwise cuts the midrange, creating a shredded tone. It maintains a solid, tight tone, so cutting the mids doesn't make the sound muddy. Turning it clockwise emphasizes the midrange, creating a warmer tone.

Once you've decided on the basic direction of your tone, the last thing to adjust is the TREBLE knob. The TREBLE knob controls the tonal balance around 2 kHz. If you set the MID knob to strongly push the mids, the TREBLE knob will only fine-tune the tone. Cutting the mids will intensify the effect of the TREBLE knob.

This is an amp-like pedal with a wide gain range, from clean to distortion. However, there are surprisingly few pedals that can use the entire range from clean to full gain like a real amp.
The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's unique BJF design allows you to consistently balance the highs, adjusting the mids and highs to your liking, based on a consistent low range. This allows you to achieve the perfect tone balance at any gain setting, from British clean to bluesy crunch, extended overdrive, and even heavy/heavy-duty high gain.

The PURPLE PLEXIFIER 4K's flexible balance and high response also make it effective when combined with other pedals and a variety of guitars. For example, combining a British vintage fuzz with a Stratocaster creates a legendary psychedelic tone, while combining a powerful American fuzz with a Jazzmaster creates a grunge-style tone.
