JR SOUND/AB-202 is an unbalanced-to-balanced converter.

■Unbalanced and Balanced Converters
Professional audio equipment does not use unbalanced input and output signal transmission. Unbalanced transmission transmits positive and negative signals through a single cable, with the shield wire used as ground. Balanced cables use three wires, with the positive and negative signals sent through separate wires and the shield used as ground. [LF][LF]

The benefits of this are simple:
[LF]1. The sound quality does not deteriorate even when the signal cable is extended to 10-20m. [LF]
2. Because the shield wire is separate from the signal cable, it is less susceptible to external noise. [LF]
3. Because the positive and negative signals are sent through separate cables, the sound is clear and does not mix. [LF][LF]

For this reason, balanced cables are used in professional applications. Using this cable with general audio equipment produces excellent sound. We encourage you to try balanced transmission.
