■Premium hardware
Ultra-low noise, discrete analog JFET input circuitry provides excellent performance response and can be switched from mono to mono, mono to stereo, or stereo to stereo I/O with a switch on the rear panel. Furthermore, the ARM DSP chip enables high processing power that accurately reproduces even the delicate nuances of sound while consuming less power.

■Tape, tube, and...to the best finished product.
Development of the EC-1 began with a groundbreaking single-moving head algorithm originally developed for the El Capistan pedal, renowned for its realistic reproduction of vintage tape echoes.

From there...we were lucky enough to acquire a very special Cesar Diaz (guitarist and legendary amp and effects tech) modded Echoplex EP-2. It was also in surprisingly good condition, and we found that some clever changes had been made to the unit, including a tube preamp mod to give it a warmer sound that was closer to the frequency response of the EP-3. His mods seem to have aimed to incorporate the best aspects of various vintage Echoplex models, and his exciting results had a major influence on the development of the EC-1, imbuing it with an immediately nostalgic character.
