The long-standing friendship between Epiphone and Les Paul (the great guitarist, musician, and inventor!) dates back to 1940. A young Les Paul spent nights at the Epiphone workshop in Manhattan experimenting with new models, creating ""the Log,"" said to be one of the world's first solid-body electric guitars. The results of ""the Log"" were later reflected in the development and birth of the Les Paul model, which remains coveted by many guitar players today as the ultimate electric guitar.
