A very organic, meaty distortion sound based on the classic Proco RAT, greatly improved using top quality parts, an active 2-band backsandall style tone stack, and a much higher output and gain control range than the original.

A completely unique feature is the ""Comp"" switch which adds two different clipping diodes to the first gain stage. This adds compression, gain, and smooths out the gain structure, allowing you to reach much more modern sound territory than you'd expect from a RAT. It also features an internal low-pass filter for even more control over the sound. For the re-release, we've added a unique ""cut"" control that gives you full control over the saturation and overall feel of the gain structure. A modern percussive sound, a classic distortion with just the right amount of fur and warmth, or a full-on drone sound that'll make you want to put on a robe and play chords for minutes.


The independently footswitchable boost circuit is a vastly improved version of the “Altar” proven boost, providing up to 35dB of slightly harsher boost. It can be used as a full-range boost (O))), a mid-boost, or a treble boost that cleans the lows and adds lots of nice harmonics.

You'll get everything from early Darkthrone to a wall of drones like Sunn O))), but it's perfect for the sounds that have become synonymous with post-metal, like Neurosis, Isis, and Amenra.
