Zach is known on the internet as one of the biggest Tube Screamer enthusiasts. Looks like it's time to add some Mythos flavor to this classic circuit. We started with the iconic 808 circuit and added some of Zach's favorite modifications to spice it up.
Envy Pro Overdrive uses the TS method with increased output, extended drive range, and thicker bass, making it easier to use for all players regardless of style.
Envy wanted to offer more options than just three knobs, so they decided to go with a fun and quirky push button. The Lows and Clip buttons quickly adjust the circuit's most frequently adjusted parameters.
When the button is up, the circuit has a more traditional TS style drive sound. Turning on Lows increases the amount of bass, making the overall sound richer. Pressing the Clip button turns off the diode, making it louder, less compressed, and more open sounding.
At the core of the Envy Pro Overdrive is a ""socketed"" RC4558P dual op amp chip. This is for a very important reason: you can experiment. Zach has said many times that the dual op amps don't sound that different, but if you want to try a different chip, you can easily try it out with Envy. RC4558, JRC4558, TL072, OP275, OPA2604, LM1458N, etc.
This pedal ships with both MOD buttons set to the ""Up Position"", which is Zach's preferred setting.
Pressing the Lows button adds bottom end and reduces midrange.
Pressing the Clip button adds symmetrical soft clipping, making the overall sound a little more traditional.
