The Cestus started life as a simple clean boost pedal, but was discontinued a while ago. When we rebuilt SusMaryOsep! for RJ Ronquillo, the first thing he requested was a treble booster. After that circuit was completed, we decided to re-release Cestus as its treble booster.
This new version of Cestus uses silicon mil-spec NOS 2N2222A transistors instead of germanium transistors. This ensures the consistency and inventory needed to manufacture these products. Switching to silicone gives you a treble boost with a unique texture and texture. I was surprised that it worked well even with a somewhat clean guitar amp.
The switch on the front of Cestus is a 3-way voice toggle. This allows you to change the tone from a classic/thin boost tone, to a tone with more midrange to the front, to a tone with more bass. This handy toggle lets you adjust the voicing to suit your setup and cover a wider range of tones. Using a suitable amp or dirt pedal after the Cestus will cover the gamut of lead and rhythm tones. The SET control sets the overall output. The wide output range allows you to configure everything from subtle revoicing of your signal to amp-destruction on dim. The artwork is inspired by the original amplifier top box that inspired this unit.
