Unlock the Argo circuit
The original Argo design is a tweak to the iconic ""COB"" circuit, giving players the freedom to balance octave fuzz sounds with a boosted clean signal. With the fuzz and blend controls set to minimum, the Argo circuit acts as a very useful and musical-sounding booster.
When Mick Taylor from That Pedal Show suggested we make this a toggleable feature, we were excited to get more out of a circuit that so many players know and love.
■Changing Lanes
The Argo Boost Deluxe is essentially the same topology as the Argo, but with an additional footswitch and Red Boost knob, the boost portion of the circuit can be used independently. Rather than pairing a new booster inside this new pedal, think of it as changing the lane within the pedal.
This allows you to have two optimal gain stages before your drive pedal or drive amp. Boost allows you to increase the overall push, and pressing the FUZZ footswitch lets you unleash the full Argo Octave Fuzz sound.
■Just a little Sparkle
Argo Boost Deluxe features a HIGHS switch that expands your tonal possibilities. In the initial plans for this pedal, Mick wanted the boost section to be a little brighter overall. Rather than making this a permanent sound change, we decided to give the player a choice.
The pedal is shipped with the HIGHS switch turned off. Turn this little switch on to add just the right amount of high-frequency sparkle to your signal when using Boost mode. This bright circuit is not part of the Octave Fuzz sound.
