FULLTONE / OCD-GERMANIUM

OCD is a very open-sounding overdrive/distortion circuit that is quite different from typical overdrives in that it uses a Mosfet for clipping, and the clipping is connected to the circuit's voltage reference (vref) rather than ground.

The result is a more interactive sound compared to traditional ""diode-to-ground"" clipping overdrives, whether you pick soft or hard. OCD preserves the natural tone of the amp or guitar you're playing, while providing touch sensitivity, nuance, and complex overtones. Due to its massive output, the OCD is a great pedal to use as an Overdrive in front of an amp or run through an amp at the master volume to drive it much harder than other ODs, but it's also great for creating unique distortions with the complex harmonic array of a Class A amp. Another great feature is that you can access sounds in between by simply lowering the guitar's volume control.

OCD-Ge has the following differences from other OCD versions:

Germanium Diodes: A matched pair of germanium diodes is used along with a pair of Mosfet. Not only does this widen the clipping threshold, but the clipping takes on the ""soft knee"" characteristics of a germanium diode, giving it a tube-like feel and emphasizing octave-up harmonics.

Audio (Log) Tapered Volume Pot: Early OCDs were equipped with an Audio Tapered Volume Pot, which allows you to change the location of the volume when rotating the volume knob. CS-OCD-Ge is a little louder than regular OCD, so we adopted an audio taper. By adopting an audio taper, fine adjustments can be made in the lower third of the pot rotation.

More open sound: Thanks to the softer characteristics of germanium diodes, the internal values ​​can be fine-tuned to allow more high frequencies to pass through.

■Control
・Volume: Adjust the volume.
・Drive: Turn clockwise for more distortion, or for a cleaner sound or for basic tones.
If you want to boost the amp's input without changing the input, keep it below 10 o'clock.
Tone: Turn counterclockwise for a smoother high-gain lead sound (with Drive knob set higher than 12 o'clock); turn clockwise for more cut and less compression.
・HP/LP Switch: When set to HP (High Peak), the bottom end increases, distortion increases throughout the entire range of the Drive knob, volume increases, and the upper mids (around 3.5Khz) increase slightly, giving a more “bright” sound.
It will have a ""tissue"" atmosphere. When set to LP (low peak), you will get a sound that is extremely faithful to the original sound of the guitar and amp! Great for clean boosting, cranked blackface or tweed styles, or if you don't want a British type sound.
・ON/OFF Footswitch: Switch to turn on/off.

■DC INPUT: Operates from a high quality regulated 2.1mm x 5.5mm plug 9-18VDC center negative power supply.
■BATTERY: It can also be powered by a 9 volt battery (006P battery). To replace the battery, unscrew the screws on the left and right sides of the housing, separate the top and bottom of the pedal, and replace the battery.
