This is a reproduction of a classic fuzz from around 1970. It features two intentionally mismatched silicon transistors, making it a bit unruly but warm... ideal for old 4-input Marshall amps, it's much fuzzier than the '69 pedal, and has a mid control for a more defined and cut sound.
We got hold of the Blue Fuzzface (now owned by Ian Moore) that Eric Johnson used from Tones to Ah Via Musicom, and incorporated its secrets of tone.
■Controls
-Volume: Adjusts the volume.
-Mids: Turning clockwise adds midrange and gain. Mids allows you to fine-tune your guitar and amp settings and cut through in a live band. Turning it all the way counterclockwise gives you the sound of a genuine Fuzzface.
-Fuzz: Turning this knob clockwise increases distortion and sustain. Like the original Fuzzface, nothing happens until this knob is around 3 o'clock.
Note: You may hear some crackling noises while turning the "Mid" and "Gain" pots, but this is not a product defect.
-ON/OFF Footswitch: This is a switch to turn on/off.
■About the internal BIAS trimmer
There is an internal trimmer that affects the response of the pedal, from soft to firm, and varies the overall compression and transient response.
Turn clockwise for softer and more compression. Turn counterclockwise for more loudness, faster tracking, and more bottom end.
*Please adjust carefully and little by little, as some settings may result in no sound or even damage to the product.
