D'Angelico / Excel EXL-1 Amber

The Excel EXL-1 Amber is an original single cutaway archtop hollow body model that is 17 inches (431.8 mm) wide and 3 inches (76.2 mm) thick.

The original pickguard, characteristic of D'Angelico, is designed to resemble a part of an f-hole and features a 5-ply tortoise shell pattern.
The body, headstock and neck are decorated with binding, and the design, combined with the mother-of-pearl split block position markers, gives a chic and gorgeous impression.
The body top is spruce, and the sides and back are flame maple. The neck is a three-piece structure (maple/walnut/maple) with walnut sandwiched between maple, which is resistant to warping and twisting, and it has an ebony fingerboard and a 25.5-inch (648 mm) scale.
It also has a dual action truss rod that can be adjusted from the headstock.
The distinctive headstock design continues the D'Angelico tradition.
The truss rod cover is made of aluminum, and its striking design is inspired by the skyscrapers of New York City, where Art Deco architecture (such as the Empire State Building) was popular around 1930.
The pickup is equipped with a Johnny Smith floating mini humbucker.
There is one volume and one tone control.
The hardware is all gold, and it features reliable Grover Imperial machine heads and an ebony bridge and steer step tailpiece.
The color is gloss amber.
