The EMG 85 is a sibling model of the 81. Unlike the 81, it uses an Alnico 5 magnet. Its powerful low and fat high sounds make it ideal as a lead pickup. It is suitable for a wide range of genres, from blues to extreme metal. In addition to the classic combination of an 81 on the bridge and an 85 on the neck, we also recommend using an 85 on both the bridge and neck.
