Preloaded with even more inspiration.
The BigSky MX comes preloaded with 22 impulse responses comprising a wide range of captures. While the collection contains some great impulses from a variety of natural spaces, we also wanted to provide some MX-specific IRs. We spent many days in the studio to do this, capturing from classic analogue studio equipment and several units owned & restored by one of our analogue engineers. The result is a bunch of very inspirational sounds, ranging from authentic analogue plates and unobtainable mainframe reverb units to dubious forgotten spring reverb tanks and tape echoes. The impulse bank is therefore packed with a wealth of creativity.
■ Ready to play.
The most powerful pedal ever is also the most flexible pedal on stage, combining intuitive operation with professional musician-approved features. The bright OLED screen is easy to read even in the toughest conditions and navigation is user-friendly and clear. A dedicated Infinite/Freeze footswitch can be used to create and play lush pads, while dual patches allow each reverb to be controlled individually at your feet. Full MIDI control over all relevant parameters and extensive I/O make the BigSky MX easy to combine with any rig.
■ Stereo panning.
For the most flexible audio routing, a pan control has been added to the output of each reverb engine. Now you can swing the Magneto to the right to hear the repeats even more clearly in dual scenarios. You can also swing both machines further to the left or right to leave more space in the centre of the stereo field. When used creatively, this gives you powerful control over.
■ Realistic space, natural fluctuations.
The new MX reverb algorithm features multi-modulation, which varies the delay of individual reflections. As a result, turning up the Mod knob gives a natural sense of shimmer, similar to the movement of air in a room, rather than an obvious modulation effect. And even with zero modulation, the reverb tail is smooth and musical, ending beautifully even at the longest decay times.
Nixie 2 software
The Nixie 2 software librarian is an integral part of the BigSky MX experience. It manages patch uploads and downloads, real-time parameter control from the desktop and even impulse response loading. At launch, functionality is limited, but full compatibility with all BigSky MX features will be available within the next few months.
