iBasso Audio D16 TAIPAN is a DAC device that uses iBasso's newly developed system controller ""FPGA-Master2.0"" as its core and performs 1-bit D/A conversion with 16 sets of cascade-connected 8E PWM-DACs, a total of 128 PWM-DACs (discrete).
■The actual measured value of THD+N is excellent at 0.0001%, achieving the best-in-class sound without blur among current portable discrete DAC devices.

■The AMP section uses an optimized Super ClassA transistor amplifier circuit based on the iBasso Super Class-A used in the DX320MAX. It is a high-quality amplifier circuit that has the distortion-free sound characteristics of a class A amplifier and greatly reduces heat generation, making it ideal for portable devices.

■Newly developed in-house, FPGA-MASTER 2.0
・""FPGA-Master2.0"" adopted in the D16 brings together the results of iBasso's algorithms from the past three years and enables innovation in portable discrete DAC.

■The FPGA plays the role of signal reconstruction and re-encoding, and generates the optimal PWM signal that is decoded by the subsequent PWM-DAC.

■When the THD value reaches a certain level, noise contamination becomes a major hindrance to improving the dynamic range value, so ""FPGA-Master 2.0"" has excellent noise shaper technology that fundamentally lowers the noise floor.

■Using global clock recovery technology, two ACCUSILICON femto clock oscillators provide reference clocks to the FPGA. The FPGA regenerates the synchronous low phase noise clock required by the DSP and USB receiver. Clock jitter accuracy is very important for 1bit discrete DACs. I have tested different brands of femto clock oscillators and found that:
The phase noise of the ACCUSILICON oscillator was low at -158dBc/Hz [@1kHz], which was a good value.
Compared to -145dBc/Hz of a typical femtosecond oscillator, the phase noise is reduced by 13dB.
This ensures the D16's excellent jitter control.
