Science Amplification / Mother Preamp

The Mother Preamp is a pedal-sized preamp device that fully inherits the sound and features of Science Amplification's signature Mother MKIII dual-channel amplifier.

The Mother Preamp was developed in collaboration with Electronic Audio Experiments (EAE), known for its meticulous design and solid tone makeup. The Mother MKIII amplifier head is the embodiment of Science Amplification at its best, all in a compact size.

Using field-effect transistors (FETs) instead of tubes, the precise full analog circuitry perfectly reproduces the thrilling sound of tubes driven by high voltages. Like a real amp, the Mother Preamp has a full-bodied responsiveness that reflects your playing, while losing none of the headroom or harmonics of the pedal connected in front.

■Dual Channel + Tone Shaping
The Mother Preamp is a dual-channel design with independent volume and gain. You can switch between them at any time with the footswitch.

Channel A offers crystal clean, glassy breakup, and crunchy retrospective tones perfect for pedal platforms. And Channel B gives you access to high-gain sounds that pass through every texture, all the way up to fully saturated heavy saturation. At any setting on both channels, the beautiful musical sound is always maintained, with a strong Science-like push and a powerful resolution that retains its core.

The EQ has the familiar texture found on standard amplifiers. By making it common to both channels, natural transitions between channels are achieved.

Depth is a unique parameter that controls the low-frequency component in the front stage of the drive stage. It affects sound tightness/looseness, distortion feel, and preamp responsiveness from multiple angles. Absense fine-tunes the last high-frequency component in the signal path and provides intuitive control over harmonics components. It also affects presence in an ensemble.

■Two output options
Mother Preamp features two output jacks with different voicings. You can use them in different ways depending on the situation in which they are used.

The Outputs are designed to be the best combination when connected to the input of an existing guitar/bass amplifier. You can enjoy the unique tone of using the Mother Preamp as an EQ and distortion device while living with the characteristic mid-scoop of a musical instrument amp. Add two more great channels to your favorite amp, or use Channel A as a tone enhancement, always on, and Channel B as a boost/drive.

Power Amp/Direct Out provides a fuller range of response. It can be used as a flat power amp, or as an amp itself by connecting to the effects return of the amp. The recording interface and speaker emulation can be used to capture the best amp sounds as they are.
