Ivy Distortion has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be charged by connecting a standard center negative DC9V adapter. It can be charged in about 4 hours and can run for about 220 hours. (This may vary depending on the discharge condition after charging and the condition of the battery.)
Just because it is rechargeable doesn't mean you have to think too hard about it. Just like a normal effect, you just need to connect the adapter. And if it is charged, you can use it without connecting the adapter.
