The 490R is a humbucker with original tone characteristics currently under patent application. It has a slightly improved response in the mid-high range. The 490T bridge pickup is tuned to match the R, and the pole pieces are arranged slightly further apart to match the string spacing at the bridge, which is different from the string spacing at the neck.
