SSL (Solid State Logic) / Pure Drive Quad is a 4ch mic preamp based on the PureDrive preamp that can switch between the sound and drive tone of the SSL traditional clean SuperAnalogue preamp installed in ORIGIN.

PURE DRIVE is a multi-channel preamplifier based on ORIGIN's PureDrive preamplifier that allows you to switch between the SSL traditional clean SuperAnalogue preamp sound and drive tone, and also features a new Asymmetric Drive, ADAT/AES/EBU digital connection, and an onboard USB interface.

PURE DRIVE offers four mic preamp input impedance options, allowing engineers to explore different tonal possibilities and match the mic pre's impedance to the mic. Additionally, each mic pre has independent +48V phantom power, polarity inversion, and high-pass filter. As one of the most capable and feature-rich outboard mic preamps available, PURE DRIVE offers new sonic possibilities and workflows for professional producers and recording engineers.

PURE DRIVE features SSL's advanced analog circuit design.
PURE DRIVE's critical audio signal path does not use any electromechanical components (potentiometers, mechanical switches, relays, etc.), extending product life and allowing perfect 'matching' between all channels, not just stereo pairs. The analog circuit is controlled by digital technology, and step control is used to improve repeatability and precision.

Each PURE DRIVE mic preamp can independently switch between two different DRIVE modes: ""Classic Drive"" and ""Asymmetric Drive,"" in addition to the classic SSL SuperAnalogue preamp sound that faithfully captures every detail in clarity.

In both DRIVE modes, the preamp responds to signal level and gain settings.
As the signal level and gain settings are increased, second harmonic distortion occurs first.
Additionally, higher signal level/gain settings add third harmonic distortion components.
Higher signal level/gain settings will increase the 3rd harmonic distortion component up to the clipping point and also introduce some compression into the transient signal.

Classic Drive is a drive mode that mainly adds odd harmonics, and is the same drive sound as the one installed in the ORIGIN console.

Asymmetric Drive is newly designed for this PURE DRIVE rackmount preamp. It primarily adds even harmonics, thickens the sound, and provides softer transients.


PURE DRIVE's advanced connectivity expands your recording possibilities. A wealth of analog and digital I/O provides a preamp with outstanding performance and flexibility, whether you're tracking a band in a world-class studio or adding warmth to stems in production. It also has a built-in USB sound card, making it ideal for projects where quality cannot be compromised.

PURE DRIVE features rear-mounted combo mic/line XLR inputs, four front-panel Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs (with automatic input detection), and insert return inputs that operate up to +24 dBu line level for seamless connection to other professional equipment.

PURE DRIVE's versatile digital connectivity delivers up to 32-bit/192 kHz audio signals to your DAW with a built-in USB sound card. Equipped with AES/EBU output and ADAT output.
Two PURE DRIVE QUADs can be cascaded using the ADAT LINK IN connection for up to 8 channels. (QUAD only)
AES and ADAT outputs can be used as DAW outputs from the onboard USB sound card, and there is an auto-ranging word clock input and output for robust digital clocking.
