On Green Day's album Dookie, Billie Joe Armstrong's guitar tone was iconic with its dirty, punchy, fast and melodic riffs.

The secret to the sound was the use of two amplifiers. One was recorded with the gain turned up, and the other with the midrange emphasised. The two sounds were then combined in different proportions depending on the feel of each track.
The MXR Dookie Drive recreates the ‘Dookie’ album sound, combining the sounds of two amplifiers into a single pedal.
The MXR development team obtained the actual amp, and through careful analysis and A/B testing, they aimed to faithfully reproduce the amp's sound on the pedal circuit.
The high-gain section and crunch section each have their own independent controls, and the blend control allows you to mix in the same way as Green Day did in the studio. In addition, you can also scoop the midrange using the Scoop switch on the unit.
