Introduced in 1963, the Firebird was Gibson's first model with neck-through-body construction. It was used by players from a variety of genres, including blues legend Johnny Winter, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Brian Jones, Eric Clapton and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music.
The Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V retains the specifications of the vintage Firebird, but at an affordable price. It features a nine-layer neck-through-body construction in mahogany and walnut, with mahogany body wings on either side. Crewson planetary banjo tuners hold the strings in place on the headstock side, while an Epiphone ABR bridge and Maestro Vibrola engraved with the Epiphone logo hold the strings on the body side, providing exceptional sustain. The guitar also follows the well-honed simplicity of the vintage 1963 Firebird V, but uses authentic parts in the electronics department. Gibson USA Firebird Mini Humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets? pickup, CTS potentiometer, Mallory condenser, Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector switch and Switchcraft 1/4’ output jack. Not only does the classic Firebird V look great, it also sounds great. Comes with Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom hardshell case.
