‘The story of the ‘Greenie’ is shrouded in mystery, but few guitars are as famous as this one.’ The ‘Greenie’ is one of the most iconic of the original Les Paul Standards and is as unique in sound as it is in looks.
Previously owned by Peter Green, this guitar was used during his time with Fleetwood Mac and was later sold to Gary Moore. Gary used the guitar for 30 years as a member of Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. The ‘Greenie’ is now owned by Kirk Hammett and has passed through the hands of three guitar legends. Its distinctive sound is due to the neck pickup being mounted with reverse polarity, which gives it a reverse-phase sound in the switch position mix.
Epiphone Kirk Hammett ‘Greenie’ Les Paul Standard was developed in close collaboration between Epiphone and Gibson Custom Shop. This particular guitar is inspired by Kirk's legendary original guitar. With this product release, players around the world will be able to experience a piece of the ‘Greeny’ magic.
