■Piano Reality Technology
Roland has long studied the many elements that make the sound and touch of a grand piano possible, including the sound source, keys, pedals, and speakers, as well as their complex interactions.
The GP-9 employs Piano Reality Technology, the culmination of technology developed from this years of research. The GP-9 is the culmination of years of research into this technology, and by making each part work together seamlessly, you can enjoy authentic piano performance with great expressiveness.

■Richly expressive sound
The Piano Reality Modeling Concert Sound Source uses the latest proprietary technology to reproduce the behavior of all parts and elements that create the sound of an acoustic grand piano, creating a living piano sound that makes you feel as if you are playing a concert grand piano. The result is a piano that sounds as if you are playing a concert grand piano. In addition, the acoustic characteristics of the space where the piano is played, such as a studio, concert hall, or cathedral, are modeled so that the player feels as if he or she is playing in the same place. The unlimited number of simultaneous notes allows you to express your playing as you wish, even in music with a large number of notes and heavy use of dampers, with rich sounds and reverberations.

■Touch of a grand piano-like keyboard
The Piano Reality Hybrid Concert Keyboard is a hybrid keyboard made of wood and resin, with hammer action and an escapement mechanism that reproduces the clicking sensation characteristic of a grand piano. It is also equipped with a keyboard vibration function that reproduces the natural vibrations felt at the fingertips when playing an acoustic grand piano. The keyboard surface is made of a proprietary moisture-absorbent material in ivory or ebony tone for a luxurious appearance and excellent playability that is easy on the fingers. In addition, new sensing technology speeds up the time between keyboard presses and sensor response, enabling more faithful reflection of differences in sound depending on the way the keys are played.
It is also equipped with three high-performance damper/soft/sostenuto pedals. The damper pedal reproduces load changes and continuous detection when depressed, similar to an acoustic grand piano, and can express the subtle echoes of reverberation when half-pedaling. In addition, damper modeling utilizing sensing technology reproduces damper noise as well as the physical noise caused when the pedal is depressed and released quickly. This allows for more advanced exercises to control pedaling noise.

■Sound that envelops the player
The GP-9 employs a unique “Piano Reality Projection Concert Sound System” that matches the design and size of the cabinet. The circuitry from the sound source to the amplifier is fully digitalized to achieve clear, noiseless sound without degrading the audio signal. In addition, the sound heard from each part of the piano is reproduced using different 7.1-channel speakers to reproduce the unique dynamic sound of an acoustic grand piano. In addition to each speaker sounding rich and powerful sounds and ambience, the addition of a speaker in the center position near the player faithfully reproduces the sound in the mid-range, and the movement of sound flowing from left to right from the low to high registers according to the position of the keys being played is felt more realistically.
