CARL MARTIN / Honey Comp

Honey Comp is a renewed version of the discontinued S series Comp/Limiter. A Dry/Wet balance knob has been added to the Comp/Limiter, which had been narrowed down to a few control knobs for simplicity of use. In other words, parallel processing like that done in the studio is now possible.

For simplicity of use, the threshold and response settings were fixed at the factory. The factory settings for Threshold and Response were fixed at the factory for simplicity of use, with only compression and level controls.
The new Honey Comp goes a step further by adding a "Dry" knob that balances Dry and Wet, allowing parallel processing of effects.
This is exactly the technique used in the studio, but now it can be done with a small pedal. This allows the dynamics lost by adding compression to be restored by utilizing the original signal.
The internal power supply operates at ±12 V even with a regular 9 V/200 mA AC adapter, and the compressor is powered by a DC/DC converter circuit originally developed by Carl Martin. It offers the same sound quality and headroom as the former PRO series compressors.

The Honey Comp is identical to its predecessor, the Comp Limiter, with a gray anodized aluminum finish, footprint, and compression and level controls for simplicity and ease of use.

Carl Martin also made it three knobs on this Honey Comp and added a Dry volume for parallel processing.
Parallel Processing is a studio technique that adds a dry signal to a heavily compressed signal that has lost some of its dynamics, replacing those dynamics and giving the guitar more dimension and adding dynamics to the guitar.

Honey Comp uses three knobs to quickly and efficiently adjust the balance between the compressed and dry signals to achieve a studio-quality sound.

The power supply incorporates a special DC/DC converter circuit developed by Carl Martin.
This allows the pedal to run on the internal +-12V needed to maintain the same sound quality and headroom as the "Classic" Compressor Limiter, using a regular 9V DC 200mA external power supply.
