Sonore: Resonant, rich timbre.

Rather than focusing only on flashy dynamics, we set out to recreate the trumpet and horn sections with the best of timbre and body.

In the mezzo forte dynamic, you will notice a wider, more open sound taking up more space in the mix. We chose special articulations to create melodies.

What influenced and inspired us the most was the organic process of orchestral music employed by the great film composers.

Recorded at the legendary MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, these ensembles also have a much improved legato.

In the control room, we patched in the exact same preamp settings as the preamps still installed in the control room today. The reverb unit was a Lexicon 480, with a tuned reverb patch. This patch was called ""THE"" patch for 90s recordings, and it's very classic sounding and instantly recognizable.

The most interesting part of this recipe sonically is the use of the Avalon 2055. This delicate class-A discrete stereo hardware EQ colors the high end in the most unique and hi-fi way imaginable. This box that replaced other mastering EQs is a gem. Used correctly, it gives harmonics an unimaginable sheen, and used incorrectly, it gives the harshest sound.
