Voices of War - Men of the North is an all-encompassing bass-voiced male choir sample library for all things "Viking." This top-quartile VST plug-in is an extensive collection of ambiance, atmosphere, drone, pad, legato, word-building, and texture patches recorded on the legendary MGM Scoring Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles. We enlisted the help of linguists familiar with Old Norse, the native language of the Vikings.
The vocabulary in this library consists of words related to war, nature, and the gods, the opposite of the fake Latin-based words employed by many worldbuilders.

The dense early reflections of the Sony Scoring Stage smooth out the transients and harmonize the timbre with its signature dark, transparent tones. A set of full-spectrum "enhanced" stereo mixes is included, allowing you to achieve the familiar cinematic sound without the need for third-party processing.

In contrast to Voxos, Men of the North dials in a specific style of cinematic singing in a chromatic (sotto/mezzo voce) and understated style.
Special care was taken to get a truly blended timbre, ideal for pads and drones but also capable of carrying word-based melodies with a strong mezzo forte. The library can provide enough color to cue itself, with the modulation wheel set to 50-75 to hold simple unisons or 5ths. Choral color is never so formally open as to be classical. It retains the carefully chosen semi-combatant (non-professional singers) timbre that is best suited to this style.

Men of The North is a must-have for video game composers. The unique head microphone KU100, nicknamed 'Fritz,' is placed directly in the middle of the choir, with the singers set in a semi-circle around it. Our morph patches utilize the ensemble's long, blended vowel morphs. This subtle movement coats the tone with an audible oil slick on the surface of the water and is different from static whole notes, which can only be created unless actually recorded.

Men of the North's word-building engine has been specifically built to deliver Nordic-sounding phrases without the effort of traditional world-building. Play, and the words change automatically. This is a word builder that requires no effort.
