・What is Descant Horn?

The Descant Horn is similar in structure to the French Horn. The Descant Horn does not have a low F side like a regular horn, but a high F side. Specifically, the length of the tube is only 6 feet, not 12 feet like a regular French Horn. Therefore, the harmonic series is offset by one octave from the F2 of a regular horn.

If you need a softer, more delicate expression in a high range, you can switch to the Descant Horn and reach that range without any difficulty. From the player's perspective, you can play high-range passages more easily and accurately.
