This unique Renaissance bowist's strings provide a rich tone suitable for scoring in a wide range of genres, including film, television, games, and media.

The viola da gamba is a six-stringed bowed and fretted instrument that originated in Spain in the mid-to-late 15th century and was the most popular instrument from the Renaissance to the Baroque period.

We sampled a combination of articulations and textures that are ideal for melodies and beds, and that fit well into the mix for scoring that is characteristic of this instrument.

The instrument has six strings and is tuned D1, G1, C2, E2, A2, and D3.

The viol's fretwork is similar to that of early guitars and lutes, with adjustable wraparound and tied-on frets. The tied-on frets are adjustable, allowing the player to adjust the tuning of the instrument.
