Mercury Recording Equipment / EQ-P1 - MK IV

Mercury Audio/EQ-P1 - MK IV is a passive equalizer with an empty tube gain make amplifier designed to bring back musicality in recordings, just like the original Pultec EQ. This is a 1CH model.

The Mercury EQ-P1 and EQ-P2 are equalizers designed to bring back the life and musicality lost in recordings, just like the original Pultec EQ. Whether by accident or genius, nothing in music production achieves this more than a passive equalizer with a tube gain making amplifier. The passive boost and attenuate shelving EQ (not relying on negative feedback) and the interplay of transformers, tubes and other amplification circuits sound incredibly musical.

Working engineers experiment with other types of equalizers, but always return to Pultec-style equalizers for tracking, mixing and sometimes the finishing touches in mastering.

I.S.T Switch
The Mercury I.S.T. switch turns the Inter Stage Transformer on and off. The I.S.T. switch in the In position takes the interstage transformer out of the circuit. This makes the sound slightly wider and more open at the top end. With the I.S.T. switch not engaged (Out), you get a warm, musical, ""vintage"" tone. This is a welcome option, as the original Pultec EQP always had an interstage transformer in the signal path.

Many engineers appreciate this feature on the Mercury EQ-P1 and Mercury EQ-P2 studio program equalizers, allowing you to instantly hear two different character changes without changing frequencies or settings.
