A perfect reproduction of the strap used at the legendary concert !
This guitar strap, named LEGEND BM BOHEMIAN, has a story.
This guitar strap is a reproduction of the one that legendary artist Brian May used on his equally legendary guitar, the Red Special.
Here is a brief story about this replica guitar strap.
On August 9, 2018, RightON!STRAPS received an email from an American RightON!STRAPS distributor. The subject was ""Strap Idea"" and it said, ""A few days ago, when I was talking to a major American music store, an interesting idea came to me. They noticed that the strap used in the new Queen movie (Bohemian Rhapsody, 2018) looks nothing like the real strap used by Brian May. There is a photo in the email below. Is it possible to reproduce it?""
Right ON!'s answer was, of course, YES.
I immediately looked for information on the strap, but I realized that there wasn't much history behind it, and that it became an icon due to Queen's memorable performance at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium in London in 1985. This performance was also recreated in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, but when recreating the guitar strap worn by Gwilym Lee (Brian May in the movie) in the movie, the result was far from the original. This is because in the pre-digital era, it was very difficult to see the exact shape of the buckle or what the embossed filigree pattern looked like. It seems that the strap was lost, missing, or stolen. There were various opinions, and the truth was in the dark.
I couldn't find much information, but I guessed that this guitar strap was a normal trouser belt that was transformed into a guitar strap, as many guitarists have done throughout history. RightON!'s design team applied the RAS length adjustment system to make it more user-friendly, and by widening the adjustment range, it eliminated the tightness that the original strap felt. Of course, we also added a hole for attaching the guitar.
Another feature of the original strap is that it has duct tape attached to secure the slide. Here too, our design team took the approach of allowing each player to choose their preferred position, and also allowing them to remove the included cloth tape and replace it with duct tape if they wished.
The prototype was sent to the US and shown at a promotion meeting attended by the manager of VOX amps and Dr. Brian May himself. When Brian May saw the strap, he said, ""Damn, it's been a long time since I've seen this one.""
For us, being able to reproduce this legendary guitar strap is a great achievement and a source of pride.
This year marks the 10th anniversary, and we have decided to deliver this replica to all fans of Queen, Brian May, and the Red Special.
The RightOn! team is confident that you will fall in love with the result and look as cool as Brian May.
