■ Plug-in

"OwnTHD" is an effect plug-in that adds analog-feeling distortion to freely adjust the analog feel of the mix. There are plug-ins that emulate many analog devices in the world, but the purpose of "OwnTHD" is not to simulate something as close to the original as possible, nor to how many devices can be simulated. It is to build your own "sound" beyond that. That is the meaning of the name "OwnTHD", which is to build "THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)".

"OwnTHD" consists of three circuit simulation modules (solid state / vacuum tube / tape) in addition to the simulation of vintage equipment that can be selected from 9 types. All of these are connected in series and can be turned on and off individually. In reality, this kind of connection can cause problems such as increased noise and impedance mismatch, but in OwnTHD there are no such problems. You can get the silky feel of a solid-state preamp, the warmth of a tube preamp, and the vintage feel of a tape machine at the same time, and you can adjust the strength of each effect.

This component simulates only the "THD" part of nine types of equipment, including mic preamps, mixers, and EQs commonly used in audio mixing / mastering. Each has a different sound "color" and is suitable for a variety of musical styles. Unlike common emulation plug-ins for analog devices, OwnTHD focuses on simulating the non-linear behavior of the device. Another feature of "OwnTHD" is the high degree of freedom of adjustment. Unlike a simple wave shaper, the mechanism by which vintage equipment produces distortion is complex, but by making it adjustable as well as reproducing it, you get more than the original equipment. For example, with the original preamp that was the basis of "N-Pre," you can only adjust the amount of overtones by setting the input level. However, in OwnTHD, you can adjust the amount of "color" by setting four Drive knobs.

■ Selectable modules

N-pre: Modeled on one of the most famous mic preamps in the world. It has a warm sound and features a deep rounded low end.
A-pre: Modeled after the famous mic preamp. Similar to N-pre, but more focused on the mid-low range.
4K: Modeled on famous equipment, you can get a punchy sound.
U61: Modeled after a tube mic preamp, it has a very warm and dense midrange.
VOC: Modeled on a channel strip, it features sweet high frequencies.
Child: Modeled after the legendary limiter.
2A: Modeled after a famous limiter.
A8: It is modeled on a famous tape machine.
Hawk: Model the overdrive module. This module produces the strongest distortion of the nine modules of OwnTHD.
