The 1073 microphone preamp is based on the API 500 series format. It combines the traditional sound of the original architecture with modern features in a compact, one-slot case.

The 1073LB is a microphone preamp module developed to combine the sound of the 1073 with the 500 Series format. Launched in 1970, the 1073 has been the first choice of leading producers and artists and continues to deliver a unique sound throughout the history of recording over the past 40 years. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the 1073LB retains its unique sound characteristics by using the same architecture, matching components and original hand-wound transformers as the original 1073 microphone preamp. And it does so in a modern, portable form factor that professional producers and engineers demand.
