2019年のBluetoothイヤホンで大ヒットした商品です。イヤホンで重要なのは音。発表当初、そのスペックだけで話題になったことをよく覚えています。長時間のバッテリー駆動、左右同時伝送による低遅延、そして音の途切れにくさは、Bluetoothイヤホンによく搭載されているQualcomm製チップセットの技術革新に追従した形ではありましたが、そこにSONYらしい美しい高音、迫力ある低音、そしてヘッドホン並に強力なノイズキャンセリング機能を搭載したことにより、極めて総合評価の高い完全ワイヤレスイヤホンに仕上がりました。完全ワイヤレスイヤホンは有線イヤホンや無線ヘッドホンと比較すると、目に見えてわかる技術的な進歩が著しく、発売から数年経過すると相対的にスペックが陳腐化しますが、WF-1000XM3は駆動時間、接続安定性、遅延の点において大部分の人の要求値を超えているため、今後も長く使えるイヤホンと言えるでしょう。また意図した設計かは不明ですが、バッテリー内蔵ケースは口をあけて机に置くと簡易的なスマホスタンドとして使うこともできます。
