Thanks to RME's new plug-and-play concept, the ADI-2 Pro automatically switches between the appropriate AD/DA converter, USB interface, and analog preamp modes depending on the connected terminals. Naturally, detailed setting adjustments can also be made to suit the situation, if necessary.

The ADI-2 Pro FS Black Edition is a limited-edition special model that retains the audio quality and high functionality of the silver ADI-2 Pro FS, housed in an all-black enclosure.

■Format-free. Flexible analog-to-digital conversion
Two analog inputs (line inputs) are servo-balanced XLR/TRS combo jacks, while two analog outputs support both XLR (balanced) and TS (unbalanced). The front-panel headphone port supports ""Extreme Power,"" allowing balanced drive using both ports. Digital options include SPDIF (also compatible with ADAT) optical, SPDIF coaxial (RCA terminal), AES/EBU (XLR terminal), and a USB port for PC playback and recording. Uncompromising, top-class sound quality and exceptional flexibility make this unit suitable for any situation.

■A New Dimension of Sound Quality
The ADI-2 Pro's internally integrated high-precision sample rate converter and RME's latest SteadyClock III technology enable plug-and-play with devices without worrying about digital clock synchronization. Furthermore, thanks to the latest AD/DA converters and RME's proprietary FPGA-based class-compliant core, the ADI-2 Pro supports AD (recording) and DA (playback) at PCM sample rates up to 768kHz and DSD256, delivering uncompromising, top-of-the-line sound not only for demanding professional applications such as mastering and acoustic measurement, but also as a DA converter in listening audio systems.

■""Extreme Power"" Headphone Output (Balanced Drive Supported)
The headphone output of the ADI-2 Pro headphone port demonstrates even more attention to detail than the main analog inputs and outputs. The newly designed headphone output features an output impedance of 0.1 Ω, a maximum output level of +22 dBu, and a maximum output power of 1.5 W per channel. Like the main output, it boasts a 120 dB S/N ratio, enabling virtually noise-free monitoring. In response to the recent headphone boom, the headphone port features ""Extreme Power"" specifications. The two headphone ports can monitor the same source or different sources, and each port features completely independent circuitry. Simultaneous use of the two headphone ports also supports balanced drive.

■Further evolution of SteadyClock FS
SteadyClock, RME's proprietary clock technology that delivers high clock accuracy and incredibly low jitter in numerous RME devices, has earned the acclaim of professional users in recording, PA, and other settings. It is a key technology in realizing RME's philosophy of ""uncolored, transparent sound."" Its high level of perfection is evidenced by the fact that no significant changes have been made to its basic design or performance from the original SteadyClock to SteadyClock III. This technology delivers consistent sound quality whether using the internal or external clock, and has been praised for its long-standing proven performance in numerous RME devices.
