The PRESONUS EarMix16M is a personal monitor mixer that works seamlessly with the StudioLive series III mixer. ■Loud, clear, customizable mixes
High-quality monitoring is essential for artists to perform at their best. The EarMix 16M features a loud, clear headphone amplifier capable of driving low-impedance devices such as professional in-ear monitors. It is equipped with a digital-to-analog converter that achieves the best dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, great care has been taken in the amplifier design to provide outstanding sound for in-ear monitors and headphones with various impedances. The controls and inputs are customizable on each unit, so each musician can create their own best mix. Once you have completed the perfect monitor mix, you can save the entire scene to the internal memory. You can save and recall up to 16 mix scenes.

■What is an AVB network?
Audio networking is more than just a way to connect digital snakes. With an AVB network, you can connect digital audio devices over long distances using CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cables and route audio with ultra-low latency anywhere on the network. AVB offers a variety of advantages that make it a better choice for audio than other network protocols. For example, AVB provides a high-precision clock that significantly reduces harmonic distortion and fading, keeping audio clear and clean. AVB also reserves enough bandwidth to transmit low-latency audio, meaning you can surf the web on the same network. These important advantages are unique to AVB.

■PoE: Provides remote power for network devices

EarMix 16M can be powered with the included external power supply, but in some cases, such as when it is difficult to share power among multiple positions on stage, it may be better to use PoE (Power over Ethernet). PoE is a technology that allows power to be supplied via the network cable. With PoE, both network data such as digital audio and power can be transmitted over a single cable. PoE-compatible devices do not require a local power source, so they can be installed anywhere an Ethernet cable can be used. Additionally, you can connect multiple EarMix 16Ms to an AVB network using a PreSonus SW5E 5-port AVB switch or similar, providing PoE capabilities.

■A system that scales with your needs
EarMix 16Ms are great on their own, but they're especially great when you need to monitor the whole band. Using a pair of AVB connectors, you can chain multiple EarMix 16Ms together and even connect them to a StudioLive Series III mixer. You can also expand by chaining multiple EarMix 16Ms from multiple PreSonus SW5E AVB switches. Once your AVB network is up and running, configuring EarMix 16M routing from a networked StudioLive Series III console and using the free PreSonus UC Surface control software for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android is quick and easy.
