The PRESONUS EarMix16M is a personal monitor mixer that works seamlessly with the StudioLive series III mixer. ■ Loud, clear, customizable mix

The EarMix 16M features a loud, clear headphone amplifier that can drive low-impedance devices such as professional in-ear monitors. Equipped with a digital-analog converter that achieves the best dynamic range and S / N ratio. We also pay close attention to the amplifier design to provide outstanding sound for in-ear monitors and headphones with varying impedances. Controls and inputs can be customized on each unit, allowing each musician to create their own best mix. Once you have the perfect monitor mix, you can save the entire scene to internal memory. You can save and recall up to 16 mixed scenes.

■ What is AVB network?
Audio network connections are more than just a way to connect digital snakes. You can use AVB networks to connect digital audio devices over long distances using CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cables and route audio with ultra-low latency anywhere on the network. AVB offers a number of advantages that make it a better choice for audio than other network protocols. For example, AVB provides a precision clock that significantly reduces overtone distortion and fading, keeping audio clear and clean. AVB also reserves enough bandwidth in advance to carry low-latency audio. In other words, it's okay to surf the internet on the same network. These important advantages are unique to AVB.

■ PoE: Provides remote power to network devices
You can use the included external power supply with the EarMix 16M, but you may want to use PoE (Power over Ethernet) if it is difficult to share power to multiple positions on the stage. PoE is a technology that enables power supply via network cables. With PoE, both network data such as digital audio and power can be transmitted with a single cable. PoE-compatible devices do not require a local power source and can be installed wherever an Ethernet cable is available. In addition, PreSonus SW5E 5-port AVB switches can be used to connect multiple EarMix 16Ms to an AVB network to provide PoE functionality.

■ System that can be expanded according to needs
The EarMix 16M works great on its own, but it's especially talented when you need to monitor the entire band. By using an AVB terminal pair, you can chain multiple EarMix 16Ms and even connect them to a Studio Live Series III mixer. In addition, multiple PreSonus SW5E AVB switches can be further chained to extend multiple EarMix 16Ms. Once you've built your AVB network, it's quick and easy to set up EarMix 16M routing from a networked Studio Live Series III console and use the PreSonus UC Surface free control software for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android.
