This rhythm performer can also play sample sounds, providing a new dimension of track making for a wide range of creators and DJ performers. The sounds of previous TR series models have been reconstructed using ACB (Analog Circuit Behavior) technology.

The TR-8S was born from the DNA of Roland's previous drum machines. You can freely combine classic club music drum sounds to create original drum kits, or customize them freely by adding carefully selected sample sounds. Everything you need for track creation is packed into one unit, from velocity-sensitive instrument pads to independent tuning knobs for each instrument and effects that add life to your patterns. Expanding possibilities not only in the studio but also in live performances.
■Features
・Drum kit combining TR sounds, sample import, and effects
The TR-8S's powerful sound engine further refines the ACB-based TR sound. The TR-8S is equipped with a vast array of sounds that far surpasses those of previous TR drum machines. The addition of preset and custom samples dramatically expands the freedom of sound creation, allowing you to create unique hybrid or layered kits by combining your own ACBs with samples, or combine them with unique effects.
・Combining ACB and Sample Sounds
Effective sounds are essential for adding color to rhythm tracks. Modern rhythm tracks incorporate a variety of sounds beyond the TR-808's cowbell and handclaps. The TR-8S comes with a huge selection of preset samples. Combine them with the realistic TR sounds provided by the ACBs to quickly create unique rhythm tracks. You can also import your own sample sounds from an SD card. Just like TR sounds, you can control the tuning and decay of sample sounds in real time. You can also reverse and adjust the speed of samples. This allows you to create rhythm tracks with your own unique sounds without being bound by conventional concepts.
・Drumatic Effects
Effects determine the presence of your rhythm tracks. The TR-8S offers a variety of effects ideal for percussive sounds, including rim shot delay, tom and cymbal filters, and snare reverb. Each instrument is equipped with an assignable controller for real-time control of individual effect parameters. Drum instrument parameters, such as kick attack and snare snap, can also be assigned to each instrument's assignable controller. Controller assignments and parameter values can be saved as a kit, dramatically improving the efficiency of live performances and track production.
- Evolved Pattern Making
The TR-REC is renowned for its intuitive and speedy rhythm programming. The TR-8S's evolved TR-REC technology further enhances rhythm programming flexibility.
- Fast, Fluid, and Fun
The combination of the 16 TR-REC pads and the newly added velocity-sensitive instrument pads allows for flexible live performance and rhythm programming. Seamlessly switch between playing and recording, allowing you to create patterns without losing ideas. The TR-8S's sub-steps allow for a wide variety of fills, flams, and rolls. You can also adjust the number of sequence steps for each instrument, allowing you to create complex polyrhythms.
・Theme Variations
The TR-8S can store up to 128 patterns. Each pattern can have eight variations and two fill-ins, allowing for versatile live performances and the ability to experiment with rhythm track variations. Each pattern also stores the tempo, kit, and effect status, allowing you to instantly switch between multiple patterns.
・8 Analog Outputs
In addition to a stereo MIX output, the TR-8S is equipped with six assignable outputs. Add different outboard effects for each instrument or mix them individually in your DAW, dramatically increasing production flexibility. The TR-8S is equipped with a 24-bit/96kHz DA converter, delivering a wide dynamic range and a clear, punchy sound.
Trigger Out and External Input
The TR-8S is equipped with an independent trigger out jack. It also has a dedicated trigger track, allowing you to synchronize the TR-8S's rim shots with an external sequencer or trigger a synthesizer, enabling organic integration with a variety of external devices. It also has an external input (EXT IN) jack, allowing you to mix the sounds of external devices with the TR-8S's sounds and add the TR-8S's unique and powerful effects.
Audio & MIDI Interface
The TR-8S is not just a powerful drum machine, it's also a complete multi-channel audio and MIDI interface. Connecting the TR-8S to your computer allows you to transfer MIDI and multi-channel audio over a single USB cable. You can also output each drum instrument on a separate channel and record it to a separate track in your DAW. You can also control it via MIDI from your DAW, or synchronize the TR-8S's built-in sequencer with your DAW or MX-1 Mix Performer.
