G&H uses OFC (oxygen-free copper) for the core, which allows for less stress on signal transmission. Another attractive feature is the wide variety of materials available for the housing, plating, and sleeve. The QP series features silent plugs, which eliminate noise even when the shielded plug is unplugged from the instrument, such as when switching instruments. When inserted into a jack, the sliding cover on the plug's sleeve moves, separating the hot and ground terminals, allowing sound to be heard.
