This SONY dynamic microphone features a sound-permeable, water-resistant screen on top of the microphone unit, preserving sound quality even in light rain. Gaskets are used at each joint to prevent water and dust from entering the microphone. The removable, double-layered aluminum perforated metal windscreen prevents wind from blowing in, ensuring clear sound pickup even in wind, rain, snow, and dust.

■ Splash- and Dustproof Design Enables Recording in Adverse Conditions
To ensure sound quality is not compromised and the microphone can be used even in light rain, a sound-permeable splash screen is used on top of the microphone unit, and gaskets are used at each joint to prevent water droplets and debris from entering the microphone. Attaching a windscreen also makes the microphone splash-proof (*).
* No harmful effects from water splashes from any direction (equivalent to JIS Class 4 splashproof).

The windscreen has a double-layered aluminum perforated metal construction and can be attached or removed. It not only prevents blowing, but also maximizes the microphone's capabilities for clear recording even in wind, rain, snow, dust, and other conditions.

The frequency response has a slight roll-off in the low frequencies and a slight emphasis on the mid- and high-frequency ranges. Combined with its omnidirectional characteristics, it is resistant to wind and supports a wide range of applications, from interviews to field recording.

The microphone body is designed to withstand heavy use. The exterior finish is human gray (a dark gray metallic matte color), making it less noticeable when dirty.
