Red 4Pre uses Thunderbolt 2 to achieve the fastest roundtrip latency for Focusrite. Two DigiLink connectors allow direct connection to Pro Tools | HD systems as well as use with your own AVID interface.

Two Thunderbolt 2 ports allow daisy chaining when adding Thunderbolt connectivity devices such as hard drives and displays.
In addition, two Ethernet ports that support the network audio standard "Dante" are provided, so that up to 64 channels can be added to the network with low latency and low cost. You can connect other Red series devices or Dante-compatible devices to the Ethernet port of Red 4Pre to add channels to the Dante network.

Red 4Pre's built-in mic pre "Red Evolution" provides ample headroom with 129 dB EIN and 63 dB gain, providing clear and natural audio performance with any external processor . Mic pres can be adjusted / recalled / stereo link controlled from Focusrite Control software.
Also equipped with Focusrite's unique "Air" function that reproduces the transformer-based microphone pre-ISA series. When "Air" is enabled, all analog input impedance values ​​are set to 2.1 ohms, and switch to a frequency response curve that delicately boosts the mid-high characteristic of ISA preamplifiers.
