After 20 years of planning, Sonic's Hand Wound Pickups have finally arrived. With respect for vintage pickups, CEO Yutaka Takeda hand-wound each pickup. Using carefully selected materials, the entire process, from bobbin assembly to winding, magnetization, and potting, is carried out in-house.

The beauty of vintage humbuckers is that they retain the nuances of a single coil within the humbucker sound. The HB-A2 uses Alnico 2, which has a weaker magnetic field, and by carefully selecting the number of coil turns, it achieves an exquisite single coil feel. Rather than a thin wire, it has a full, rich sound with distinct grain.
Three types are available: the ""N"" model for the neck position, the ""B"" model with slightly more turns for use in the bridge position, and the ""Hot B"" model for those who want even more power. All models have the same pole piece pitch, so they can be used in either position. The output cable is a single-core shielded cable, and the signal phase is the same as that of Gibson humbuckers.
