The TASCAM CD-500 is a professional-grade CD player with a 1U rackmount size. It's packed with features, including 10-key playback and flash start. This standard model is ideal for a wide range of applications, including recording studios, wedding halls, public facilities, and meeting minutes.

- The disc loading method uses an edge-hold slot-in mechanism that holds the outer edge of the disc for insertion and ejection. This mechanism protects the disc surface from scratches. The front panel is equipped with a numeric keypad. In addition to selecting tracks to play from the front panel, direct playback is possible, with instant playback starting at the touch of a key.
- Audio output is provided via analog unbalanced RCA outputs, as well as coaxial and optical digital outputs. External control is possible via RS-232C serial control or the separately sold RC-3F foot switch.
- Other features include anti-shock memory for stable playback, a panel lock function, and an eject block function during playback, enabling the construction of highly secure equipment and distribution systems.
