This flagship model of Yamaha electric guitar boasts the longest tradition and history in Japan. Crafted using the finest materials and advanced woodworking techniques, it boasts Yamaha's unique IRA treatment, resulting in exceptional body resonance and response.
The Yamaha SG, the king of solid-state guitars beloved by guitarists worldwide for over 30 years, has undergone a dynamic model change! The lineup includes three models with different concepts. The SG1820 features a Seymour Duncan '59 humbucker pickup for a well-balanced sound. This is the flagship model of the SG series, perfect for all-around rock sounds.

■Body Material/Neck Joint
While retaining the SG's iconic double-cutaway design with a maple top and mahogany back construction, the SG1820's body has been refined to deliver the sound, playability, and looks that today's guitarists demand.

The body top's arch has been refined to be sharper than previous models. The body top, where the bridge and tailpiece are located, is made of thick maple to absorb string vibrations. The maple gradually thins out toward the perimeter of the body, efficiently transmitting string vibrations throughout the body and achieving optimal weight balance.

In addition, the contoured back of the body featured on the SG1000/2000/3000 has been eliminated to improve fit for players who hold their guitars higher. With many players now holding their guitars lower, this is no longer necessary, and the benefits of a flat back and increased mahogany mass, which improves low-mid response, have been prioritized.

■Fingerboard
Since many SGs made in custom shops by professional guitarists use rosewood fingerboards instead of ebony, the new SG uses carefully selected, high-quality rosewood for its fingerboard. The warm, well-balanced sound produced by this wood is a perfect match for the modern music scene.

■Headstock
The headstock is smaller than previous models to balance the weight of the body. The traditional ""flower pot"" inlay has also been resized accordingly.

■IRA (Initial Response Acceleration)
It's said that the more you play a guitar, the better it resonates. This is because the stress between the wood (such as the neck and fingerboard), between the wood and the finish, and between the wood and the hardware, settles and resonates as one.

I.R.A. is a technology that applies vibrations specific to the finished guitar to relieve stress between the finish and the wood. This process restores the guitar to the same condition as if it had been played for a long time.

■Pickups
SG1820: Seymour Duncan '59
This pickup features the smooth midrange and rich highs characteristic of vintage humbucking pickups. Paired with the SG1820, it produces a warm, deep vintage tone.

■Grover Locking Tuners
This system locks the ends of the strings with the tuning peg rods. This prevents tuning errors due to loose strings at the pegs and allows for quick string changes. The lightweight, sleek design does not affect sound or performance.

■The lightweight bridge and tailpiece reduce loss of body vibration caused by metal parts. Furthermore, the design in which the bridge and tailpiece are secured to their respective studs with screws not only ensures secure placement, but also reduces loss of string vibration when transmitting to the body.

■Graph Tech Nut
This nut uses a material that semi-permanently retains properties similar to those of oil-soaked ivory, a high-quality nut material. This material has a long lifespan and high-precision processing of the string grooves. The exceptional smoothness of the bottom of the nut ensures reliable transmission of string vibration to the neck, producing a clear, crisp sound.

■Electronic Components
Switchcraft Toggle Switch/Noble Pots: Only the highest-quality electronic components that have passed Yamaha's rigorous testing are used in the SG. Both the switches and pots are highly reliable, recognized by professional guitar techs around the world for ""performing their functions without fail, even during intense stage performances every night.""
