The SONIC / PM-01 POT MATE eliminates the rustling noise caused by shaft friction when turning volume or tone controls with metal knobs. It firmly grounds the shaft, reducing noise.
■Conductive grease for improving pot shaft noise
~From the manufacturer's website~
Guitars with metal knobs for volume or tone controls can sometimes produce a rustling noise when the shaft rubs against the knob. This is different from noise caused by worn or dirty resistors, so contact cleaners and similar solutions cannot solve the problem. In such cases, using POT-MATE to firmly ground the shaft is effective.
■How to Use
1. Remove the knob. Please note that there are various ways to attach the knob.
2. Use a toothpick or similar tool to apply a small amount of POT-MATE to the base of the shaft. Make sure the POT-MATE connects the shaft to the surrounding area.
3. Turn the shaft two or three times to blend in the grease.
4. Reinstall the knob. Pay attention to the orientation and height.
*Before applying, remove any oil or dirt from the area to be applied.
■Handling Precautions
- POT-MATE is a conductive grease.
- Do not use on resistors or other parts inside pots.
- If too much is applied, it may leak and stain your guitar.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use near open flames.
- Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures.
- Close the cap tightly after use.
