This microphone is recommended for recording vocals and narration, as well as delicate, low-pitched instruments like wind instruments and double bass. It's the successor to the KSM27 and the first side-address condenser microphone in Shure's SM series. Its large diaphragm improves dynamic range, self-noise, and signal-to-noise ratio compared to the KSM27. With a maximum SPL of 147 dB when in pad mode, it's suitable for high-sound-pressure sources like drums and amp cabinets. It offers excellent value for money and is highly recommended.
