This is a modified version of the HS, a treble booster manufactured between 1967 and 1969 that recreates the sound of Hornby Skewes. It delivers a powerful crunch and drive, with a distinctive tone that's appealing when the guitar volume is turned down. Connect it before your amplifier to create a mid-range-focused lead sound.

■The RG is a modified HS Custom model that recreates the distinctive sound made famous by ""Big Guns"" and ""Lonesome Highway."" Compared to the HS Custom, the RG has higher gain and produces a punchy, superior crunch tone. Turning the volume control about halfway produces a sound reminiscent of early ""Deuce,"" ""Live in Europe,"" and ""Against the Grain."" If you're using PAF-style humbuckers, try turning your guitar's volume down to about 7. This will halve the PAF's output, giving you an earthy, early '70s R&B sound reminiscent of the Faces.
