This dynamics plug-in limiter uses a unique algorithm to adjust the perceived volume. It provides a warm sound reminiscent of analog equipment and is useful in situations where delicate processing is required.

■Plug-in
Oxford Inflator is more than just a limiter. By applying it to material that you thought couldn't handle higher levels, you can increase the sound pressure and enhance the presence of quiet sounds that were previously difficult to hear. But you don't want it to sound like you've applied a compressor or limiter.
Developed in response to the needs of mastering engineers and mixers like these, Oxford Inflator doesn't simply suppress peaks; rather, its unique algorithm successfully increases the perceived loudness.

-Ruff & Jam (Kylie Minogue, the Sugababes, Sophie Ellis Bextor)
""Inflator is the first loudness enhancement tool that hasn't disappointed me. It has a unique character, producing a warm, luxurious sound. It delivers great results not only on the main bus of a mix, but also on individual tracks."" ""

""This is DOPE! With plug-ins having evolved to this extent, I'm no longer easily surprised by small things, but this one blew me away. My first impression after using it overall was elegant. But that impression was short-lived. Just by adjusting the input and curve, the sound sticks out beautifully. It easily surpasses even a mix that was thought to be well-cooked. Applying it to vocals or drum tracks makes it easy to cut through without worrying about peaks. It's insane. This is DOPE!""
-Keiichi Ito/Kim Studio (Sound & Recording Magazine, April 2003)
""Creates a sound with presence through a natural maximization effect. This is a Sonnox Oxford series effector for increasing sound pressure. The maximization effect enhances the sense of loudness."" While this series incorporates a range of graphic designs, it doesn't rely on conventional analog simulation; instead, it features a slider-type input device that's extremely easy to use and has good visibility.
The effect is excellent, with extremely natural changes in sound quality. Rather than sound pressure itself, I like the feeling that it gently enhances the presence of the music. Many effects pedals of this type change sound quality dramatically with volume. I'm sure I'm not the only one who just couldn't get used to it, even when they described it as being fatter or thicker. ""
This plug-in is great for adding natural volume, but when a simple compressor/limiter isn't enough and you need more presence. It's also nice that it doesn't have the pumping of a compressor or the saturation of a tube. The CURVE parameter lets you set the character from gentle to fat, and the EFFECT parameter lets you adjust the depth. It also has a mode that divides the audio frequency range into three bands, allowing for smoother effects and higher maximization levels even with deeper effects.
