Simply put, Filterbank2 is an ""oscillator-less analog synth."" When an input signal is detected, the ADSR and AR envelopes are triggered, modulating the two VCFs and VCA. The LFO oscillates at frequencies that reach the audio range, shaking the VCF. Increasing the input level results in extreme distortion and aggressive filter resonance. The filter type smoothly transitions from high pass to band pass to low pass. You can also synchronize the harmonics of the two VCFs, vary the connection between serial and parallel, and track the cutoff frequency to match the input signal or the FM IN pitch. This is a unique tool that can be freely manipulated, from the smooth filtering characteristic of analog to extreme, completely destructive sounds.

SHERMAN FILTERBANK 2 includes all the functionality of the previous version, adding five switches, two LEDs, and a pedal input on the rear panel. The ADSR and AR envelope speeds have been increased by approximately 40%. The front panel layout has also been changed accordingly, and the body finish is now gray metallic.

■ Pedal Input
By connecting an expression pedal with a TRS connector, you can control the FREQ1 parameter on the unit with your feet. By connecting a footswitch with a two-pole phone plug, you can use it as an effect/bypass switch.

■ HI BOOST/CUT 3-WAY Switch
This switch boosts (effective at low input levels) or cuts (effective at high input levels) the high frequencies of the input signal in the input stage. The center position is normal.

■ SENSITRIG / LIMIT 3-WAY Switch
The ""SENSITRIG"" setting doubles the trigger sensitivity, making it ideal for filtering clean pad sounds, etc. The ""LIMIT"" setting suppresses self-oscillation even when the input level is extremely high and overdriven.

■ +1OCTAVE / +QUINT 3-WAY Switch
These two modes have their own distinct, dirty sound characteristics. ""+QUINT"" is only available when the input signal is purely monophonic. To activate ""+QUINT,"" the FM knob must be slightly opened. This function operates like octaver submodulation.

■ TRACK/TRACK LOW 3-WAY Switch
This activates the powerful and innovative monophonic pitch follower. This function causes Filter 2 to follow the pitch input at FM IN, and Filter 1 can also be slaved via the HARMONICS switch.

■ LFO Section 3-WAY Switch
An additional switch has been added to the LFO section. In addition to the traditional triangle wave LFO, the LFO waveform can now be selected from two types: sawtooth wave and triangle wave with AR RETRIGGER function. AR RETRIG: When this function is turned on, the LFO waveform is forcibly reset in accordance with the AR trigger. By adjusting the AR trigger level and the LFO waveform, modulation synchronized with the pattern becomes possible. Try it out with the low-pass filter and LFO modulation settings.
