ART / PRO VLA™

The ART/ART Pro VLA III is the latest model in the Pro VLA series, a 2-channel optical compressor favored by studios worldwide. It features a new ""Voice"" switch that allows switching between a warm vacuum tube circuit and a clean solid-state circuit. It also offers extended ratio settings for delicate mastering, improved headroom, and a low-noise design. Dual mono/stereo linking is supported, providing musical and natural dynamics control.

The Pro VLA compressor is a long-selling, flagship model from ART, loved in studios worldwide for over 20 years. Known as a ""hidden gem"" among those in the know, it was praised by the international effects magazine *Tape Op* as ""one of the best compressors in its price range."" Its proven performance and tradition are carried on in the latest Pro VLA III.

Like previous models, it employs an optical circuit that can be used as two independent channels or in stereo link. It offers flexible dynamic control, from smoothing individual tracks to musically unifying the entire mix. It features a fixed input and variable threshold design, delivering a warm, authentic sound from a genuine 12AT7 vacuum tube.

■New Features and Evolution

The new III features a new ""Voice"" switch. You can now choose between a warm vacuum tube circuit and a clean solid-state circuit to match your sound source. Furthermore, the ratio setting has been extended to 1.25:1, allowing for the delicate compression required during mastering. Headroom has been increased, the noise floor has been reduced, and channel symmetry during stereo linking has also been improved.

The Pro VLA III features variable threshold, attack, release, and output controls, as well as independent bypass switches for each channel. It also includes meters that simultaneously display input level, output level, and gain reduction. The rear panel features balanced XLR and 1-inch inputs and outputs, with switchable operating levels of +4 dBu and -10 dBV.
