New for December 2025! The Big Muff Pi 2 is a fuzz pedal that recreates the dual op-amp circuitry of the Big Muff, delivering wilder distortion and richer sustain than the original Big Muff. It also supports a momentary switch, allowing for highly expressive fuzz play.

Electro-Harmonix founder and president Mike Matthews and renowned inventor Bob Meyer have long known each other. Together they designed the first Big Muff and have collaborated throughout EHX's illustrious history. A constant innovator, Bob was known to present Mike with the latest designs, keeping up with the available technology of the time.

During the design selection process, some designs are accepted, while others are set aside and forgotten. The Big Muff Pi 2 dual op-amp design was one such circuit that was rejected in the late 1970s and quickly filed away in Bob's files.

EHX enthusiasts Josh Scott (JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger discovered this innovative circuit design as a handwritten schematic among Bob's old notes while interviewing him in his old workshop. Josh worked to decipher the original schematic and revived the circuit as the Big Muff Pi 2.

The Big Muff Pi 2 resembles the classic Big Muff Pi, but with its own unique fuzz tone, further enriching the Big Muff flavor palette. With singing sustain and ample gain, the Big Muff Pi 2 stays true to the Big Muff Pi tradition with its unique character and response.

Crispy high end, resonant low end, and slightly raw clipping give the Big Muff Pi 2 an especially cool feel, delivering a unique yet unmistakably Big Muff sound. Slightly more dynamic and slightly fuzzy, the Big Muff Pi 2 is a must-try for any Big Muff enthusiast!

Equipped with the familiar Volume, Tone, and Sustain controls, the Big Muff Pi 2 is housed in a nano-sized die-cast enclosure with artwork designed by EHX enthusiast Daniel Danger. The Big Muff Pi 2 is a first for Big Muff, featuring a silent, true-bypass footswitch with latching/momentary action. Click the footswitch for standard latching (fixed on/off) operation, or hold it down for momentary action for a massive burst of fuzz!
