Modeled after a legendary model from the late 1950s, the ALT-436C is an iconic single-channel, variable MU tube compressor with a fixed attack time.
The ALT-436C is the third in a series of compressors extensively modified by sound engineers working on pop records of the time, adding threshold and release time controls.

This inexpensive unit, beloved by Beatles-era producers and initially a favorite, has now become legendary, highly useful for bass guitar, vocals, string instruments, and even synthesizers. Pop music of the time wasn't as cold and sterile, and this unit is one reason why.
